Luis Gamarra wrote De Viaje after his first panic attack, and its message centers on connecting with your inner child to find resilience, self-worth, and emotional healing.
De Viaje: Music for Mental Health
In partnership with UNICEF and its Familia Segura program, Luis Gamarra launched “De Viaje,” a song and campaign dedicated to promoting mental health among young people and adolescents. Written during one of the most difficult moments in his life, the song became a message of hope, encouraging others to care for their emotional well-being and seek help when needed.
Through De Viaje, Luis used his personal story to inspire others to open up about mental health struggles. The campaign highlighted the importance of psychological and emotional support, featuring real stories from young people who found help through UNICEF’s free hotline, Familia Segura, which provides confidential assistance to children, adolescents, and women across Bolivia.
UNICEF recognized Luis’s voice and platform as powerful tools to reach audiences that traditional messaging often can’t. Together, they turned “De Viaje” into a movement to break stigmas, encourage empathy, and remind people that no one is alone in their journey toward healing.
Music with a Mission
With "De Viaje", Luis Gamarra has delivered a powerful mental health message to thousands of young people, performing in public markets, women's shelters, schools, universities, and trans homes to inspire self-care and foster open conversations about emotional well-being.
He has also shared the song and its message internationally, performing at his own shows as well as opening concerts for major Latin artists such as Camilo, Sebastián Yatra, Morat, Carlos Vives, and more in Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, and the United States, bringing hope, empathy, and emotional connection to audiences across borders.
During each performance, Luis invites the audience to close their eyes and imagine their inner child standing before them. This exercise allows people to reconnect with themselves in a deeply personal way, often resulting in moments of reflection, tears, and rediscovery.
